Top 5 wedding planning resources

18 Jan

Wedding planning can be fun, but also overwhelming. The wedding planning industry is big business and it is easy to get lost in beautiful and inspirational ideas, but I’m here to offer some practical and useful resources. Here are the places I have visited to cross things off my I DO to-do list:

  • Craigslist – let other brides do the work for you! After their weddings, they are eager to sell off centerpieces, reception and ceremony decor, even dresses! I find it is best to search the entire ‘for sale’ section for ‘wedding items’. I scored some lanterns similar to these that I will be using as part of my centerpieces:

  • Etsy – I could browse etsy for hours, there is so much! I’m not a huge crafter or DIY-er, but there are plenty of talented people out there to do the work for me! From save-the-dates to hair pieces to table numbers, there is something for everyone, and many items can be custom made! Here are a few adorable details to add that extra something special to your special day:
    • Custom Return Address stamp:

    • Mini tissue paper poms:

    • A flower for your hair:

    • Illuminated table numbers:

  • Save-on-Crafts – This website is like a super cheap online version of Hobby Lobby, but with even more crafts and supplies. You can view their wedding shop here and spend hours browsing all they have to offer.

  • Russell and Hazel – Click here for a long list of free wedding planning templates. I printed off the Wedding Timeline/Checklist and although there are several items that don’t apply, I find it to be a comprehensive guide to help me stay on track.

And there you have it!

There are 144 days left until our wedding, any other awesome resources I should know about??

Currently on my library reserve list:

i do now what

I found out about this book via twitter and immediately placed it on my reserve list. She is just one of those likeable personalities and I love watching their reality show, because they do seem genuinely happy together. I’m only number 17 on the list, so I’ll have to wait a while, but seems fitting for me to read this year, don’t you think?

Love 2 Love

2 vases

How adorable are these numbered bottles from the Letter Box Co? I am a big sucker for the number 2, but they can be customized with any number.  This could also be an easy DIY project or cute table numbers for a wedding!

Wedding Colors

Wedding Color Palette.

This is a little color palette I have put together for our wedding. Keep in mind, I won’t be using the actual objects (well maybe some), but they represent the colors that will be used for invites, bouquets, centerpieces, etc. Of course this may change, but for now, I love it!

I promise to talk about stuff besides weddings soon :)

Wedding Inspiration – the good and the bad

1 Jun

Hey all! Sorry I am becoming only a sometimes blogger, such is life! Even though having this blog was a big goal of mine and I had grand dreams of making it amazing, I’m just not feeling it lately. And I don’t feel like adding something to the pile of things to feel guilty about.

Similarly, I’m trying hard not to feel guilty about not having the most amazing, beautiful, unique, put-together, meaningful, special and cutting edge wedding around. Where would I get this idea that I needed to put together such an event?

Wedding blogs that’s where! Both wonderful and evil at the same time! Wonderful in the sense that they provide beautiful inspriation photos and ideas, evil in the sense that my wedding will never compare. Either way, I’m still going to look, so here are some pics I like via snippet & ink (Can you tell I like green and white?). Other pretty blogs include Once Wed and Style Me Pretty

Do you like crowns?

21 May

I wanted to show off pictures of my beautiful engagement ring! At first I couldn’t figure out how to get a good photograph up close, then I discovered the macro setting on my camera, its awesome!

So the story behind the title is that when viewed from the side, the ring resembles a crown. Jake asked me once or twice before actually giving me the ring ‘do you like crowns?’.  I’m sure I responded with ‘uuhhh, I guess soo…’ because at the time I had no idea what he was talking about! But as soon as I saw the ring, it all made sense :)

I love gazing at it and thinking how lucky I am to be loved so much! Of course I don’t need a diamond ring to feel loved, but it is a symbol of a pretty big commitment…
